OUR STORY

House of Knowledge was inspired by a longing for a more inclusive, safe & accessible music industry that has historically been known to be male-dominated and unsafe.

We make sure that marginalised communities feel empowered to make big moves as they are given the spaces, resources and opportunities needed to do so.

Founded by Tasha Slagtand & Sam Uittenbogaart, House of Knowledge is elevating the cultural scene by offering long-term educational programs that are rooted in lived experiences, empowerment, community building, mental health & Black culture.

We Honour

Black Music

House of Knowledge prioritises music that is Black in its origin & expression; namely Hip hop, Soul, Jazz, R&B and Fusion. We passionately honour ‘The greats’ of these genres and simultaneously also hold space for the new sounds, genres, lyrics and experiences that starting as well as more accomplished artists  bring.

We Believe That Knowledge Is Power

We make sure that artists are knowledgeable enough to flourish in their careers by giving them access to trusted mentors, teachers and artists with expertise & lived experiences to share!

We offer opportunities for you to share and development your art under healthy, joyful and professional circumstances. We do not claim artists as our own, but simply assist them in their journey to greatness!

We Build Community

House of knowledge provides a supportive  & talented community of musicians, vocalists, entrepreneurs and students in the music and cultural scene. We nurture our people with love, humor & spontaneity, as they have become our chosen family.

With acts of service as our primary love language, we naturally cater to the needs of our community, and strongly affirm the notion that House of Knowledge is “For us, by us”.
